Structure

We operate through two customer ‘Clusters’. One is Retail and Business Banking (RBB); the other, Barclays Corporate, Investment Banking and Wealth Management (CIBWM). Both operate through a number of Business Units.

Barclays RBB comprises of four business units employing more than 90,000 people in 22 countries:

Europe Retail and Business Banking

Retail Development Programme now closed for 2012

The Retail Development Programme
We have created two unique and innovative sponsored degrees that will fast-track you to a leadership role within our Retail Banking Business.  These programmes offer a unique opportunity to combine a degree alongside full time work based learning. The length and structure of the programme will depend on which university you are studying with, the Lord Ashcroft International Business School at Anglia Ruskin University or the Nottingham Business School at Nottingham Trent University.  You will gain a wealth of experience on structured work placements which will help to establish you as a business professional, develop your leadership skills, stretch your strategic capabilities and prepare you for an exciting career with us.

In this programme, you will gain experience working in the following roles:

Cashier
Putting you at the start of the customer’s journey. A great way to develop your customer insight.
Personal Banker
Dealing with customers on a one-to-one basis, you will be using your knowledge and helping them make the most of their money.
Operational Specialist
Giving you a behind-the-scenes look at how a branch works making sure that work processes are being followed across the branch whilst identifying opportunities for process improvements.
Assistant Manager
In a role that focuses on motivating, developing and coaching people, you will be the main customer facing manager within the branch and leading the team.
Branch Manager
Bringing together everything you have learned on your previous placements, you will be managing staff, engaging with customers and advising on products including business banking, mortgages, financial planning and Premier Banking.

What’s on offer?
This is a unique programme to recruit young people aged 16 plus based on their attitude and potential rather than experience or qualifications. On the Barclays Apprenticeship you will work towards the Level 2 Apprenticeship in Providing Financial Services (Retail Banking).  With support from your manager and sessions from our trainers, you can be sure you’ll receive the help you need to study for the Apprenticeship, so if you think this is something that you would like to do after school, or  you are currently reviewing your options for education, employment or training, then this could be exactly what you are looking for, apply now.
