More about internships
Internships are a great way to find out more about an employer and a job before applying for a permanent position.
Internships will enable you to meet people from a range of departments and understand the culture and values of the organisation. Internships generally take place in the summer months during a break from college or university. Whilst you will only be on an internship for 4-8 weeks, the employer will expect that you add value to the organisation, and demonstrate your skills and abilities. The majority of employers who offer graduate training programmes also offer internships, and will hope that the interns who perform very well will want to apply for the graduate programme.
Internships are mostly paid placements, but there are some employers who do not pay interns. Our policy for employers is very clear, interns must be paid. The Common Best Practice Code for High Quality Internships and Professions for Good provides best practice internship guidelines for employers.
